According to studies led by Ph.D. Peter Francis at the San Diego State University Biomechanics lab in the early 90s, the bicycle exercise is the by far the most effective abdominal exercise.

Your midsection has two basic muscles: rectus abdominus and the oblique muscles.



The bicycle maneuver targets the rectal muscles.

First off, you’ll need a mat because this exercise is performed lying down.



1) Lie on your mat facing the ceiling. Interlock both hands behind your head.

2) Throughout the exercise, keep up both legs at 45 degrees to the ground. Also keep your shoulders lifted off the ground at all times.



3) Bring in your left knee towards your chest. Lift your upper body using your abs. Rotate and touch your left knee with your right elbow. All three steps moves should be done in a single, fluid movement.

4) Alternate by bringing in your right knee towards your chest. Lift your upper body using your abs. Rotate and touch your right knee with your left elbow.



Start your first week with 20reps per set.



By the time you start doing 100reps per set in a few months, your abs will be as hard as rock.

Remember that no amount of crunches will ever give you a solid set of six-pack abs, if you are not in the right weight.
